On April 14, 2017, Metropolitan State University will host their 4th annual conference on Understanding and Responding to Mass Incarceration. We are pleased to feature two guest keynote speakers--Dr. Reba Peoples, M.D. and Antony Stately, Ph.D.--to address this year's theme, The Role of Trauma, Pathways to Healing.
In the morning, Dr. Peoples will address the topic, Tools For Transcendence: Why Resilience in the Face of Trauma Isn’t Enough. Our lunch keynote speaker, Dr. Stately will address the topic, Kill the Indian, Jail the Man: Historical Trauma, Colonization, Micro-aggressions and the Prison Pipeline for Native American Men, Women and Children.
After each keynote presentation, all attendees will have the opportunity to attend several break-out sessions. These sessions are a dynamic range of discussions exploring specific dimensions of mass incarceration and will connect participants to leaders and networks taking action for change.
Lunch will be provided and is a great time for discussion and networking.

Free screening of Ava Duvernay’s award-winning film, 13th. Discussions facilitated by Jason Sole. Thursday, April 13, 6-8:30 pm. Founders Hall Auditorium.
